50 years remembrance Deventer - Turkey

Hatıralar is the Turkish word for recollection. With the Hatiralar exhibition, the Historic Museum Deventer joins in the national celebration of 400 years of diplomatic relations between The Netherlands and Turkey. A large piece of embroidery made of eighteen parts created by Deventer women of Turkish origin, tells of their coming to Deventer in the nineteen sixties. Eighteen inhabitants of Deventer illustrate their special memories of Turkey through everyday objects or on the contrary, with a unique object such as a glistening silver kris and a calligraphic signature of a Sultan.
